Not when something’s trendy. Not when it’s expensive. it it just disappears.

I built my wardrobe on this one idea: wear it at least thirty times or don’t buy it.
You need five things. Not ten. Not twenty.
Five.
Well-fitting jeans that don’t gap or pinch. (Yes, you’ll need to try them on. No, the tag size doesn’t matter.)
A white t-shirt that doesn’t turn see-through after two washes. A black one too. And a gray.
Not charcoal, not slate. Just plain gray.
A blazer that fits your shoulders. Not oversized. Not boxy.
Just right. Throw it over a tee and jeans and you’re done.
A little black dress or a jumpsuit (pick) one. If you hate dresses, get the jumpsuit. If you live in dresses, skip the jumpsuit.
Shoes? One pair of clean white sneakers. One pair of black flats.
One pair of simple black heels. No straps, no buckles, no nonsense.
Skip the trends. Skip the “statement” pieces. Skip anything you can’t pair with three other things in your closet.
Neutral colors only for these. Black. White.
Navy. Gray. Beige.
That’s it.
Bright colors and patterns come later (once) the foundation holds.
Quality matters more than count. One $120 pair of jeans lasts longer than three $40 pairs. I’ve tested that.

Or tuck the end into a blazer pocket. They’re not just for winter.
Belts do more than hold up pants. I use a wide black one to cut a flowy dress in half (waist) appears. Instant shape.
Bags and shoes are never afterthoughts. A bright red tote makes a gray outfit breathe. Pointy-toe flats turn pajama pants into “I meant to look like this.”
